Beating Bell’s Palsy with Cannabis: Curt’s Story

CBD Along With Another Cannabinoid (CBG) Was His Answer - Synergy Done Right:

Curt Platt has lived with Bell’s palsy, a paralysis or weakness affecting part or all of the face, for about 12 years. Platt was in the midst of a brutal flare-up of this when he decided it was time to use a CBD oil high in CBG, a cannabinoid that works really well with it. Anyway, let’s get back to Curt. His story is very exciting and really get’s me going as a researcher, a patient, and a journalist. I know exactly what works, if you have the last blog you can tell that quickly I could leave you lost in terminology I once didn’t understand about the Endocannabinoid System. The one thing about CBD that amazes me is its presence in the system doesn’t quickly leave as many think it does. We don’t see CBD detaching from receptor sites anywhere near as quickly as other cannabinoids or ‘quick’ at all. More so, in our world, we see a loop so to say. Activity within the body with CBD tells us that it can build up and work even better for those with positive effects. For those that do not take well to the cannabinoid, especially all by itself – the effects are equal. Not everyone does well with Cannabinoid Medicine, but the percentage that doesn’t generally aren’t using the right intake method. Some need more subtle and some more intensive. Carl shows that his system was deprived and he was suffering from classic Endocannabinoid Deficiency Syndrome. This is from nearly a century of prohibition that has left us all without a herb that was both in our diet previous, and on pharmacy shelves. Many are totally unaware that before prohibition over 1 million prescriptions per year were written for Cannabis medicines. A mummy was exhumed with Cannabis within the tomb not that long ago showing that literally 5,000 years ago it was a celebrated herb favored by many.

Back to the story of Curt Platt. He reported that nearly 90 percent of his symptoms were gone after the use of CBD oil. It worked quickly and effectively. It’s amazing how many will respond to different Cannabinoid Therapies. We’re finding that the variations of the different elements of the plant do even more than just one cannabinoid but some people will show remarkable improvement with the simple ‘spiking’ of their endocannabinoid system with the intake of exogenous materials – from the plant.

Platt now takes his oil daily and reports daily about how well he feels compared to before. It’s amazing how this one company that has much compassion towards people made a difference for him. Dennis and the Proposition 215 of 1996 in California created the entire new legalization that has allowed companies such as this to be born and people like Curt to heal. Curt had previously suffered from Bell’s palsy flare-ups for about one month annually. The condition affects about 40,000 Americans per year, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. It’s not a life-threatening condition, and most patients fully recover within one to two months. Many patients that are trying to get better with western medicine could find that integrating cannabinoids or cannabis medicine into their treatment could cause a dramatic change just like it did for me and literally millions of others like Curt Platt.

We all need to remember that the hippies were right. From cancers too much more we are finding the plant to be the answer that makes the most sense. Nice and natural – I personally can’t live without it, literally! But what do we have going on right now in California? The very governor that once moved out of the Governor’s Mansion in the 70’s – Jerry Brown, just vetoed a compassion act that was returning the ability to give away Cannabis Oils and more to patients in need. Proposition 64 commercialized cannabis for recreational use and made it legal although I’ve never needed a law to call a friend and score a bag of weed, it’s ridiculous that it would put compassion on the line, and when California voters went uninformed to the polls and ‘just said yes to recreational cannabis they had no idea that patients in need would suffer and ultimately die. The act of compassion in this story is one that grabbed my heart… I had to write about it.

The endocannabinoid system itself is a very complex one and it regulates numerous bodily processes in parallel with other well-known systems including the adrenergic, cholinergic, and dopaminergic, and many other systems. Neglecting the potential clinical uses of such a system is without a doubt unacceptable. People can stay in denial if they so choose, but our body was meant to ingest this plant on a daily basis. Homeostasis, or the balance of our body’s functions, depends on the intake of exogenous cannabinoids aka the plant.
